Every dictation tool I have used quietly improves me. I say something plainly and it arrives more professional, with the contractions expanded and the rhythm flattened. I did not ask for an editor, I asked for a typist.
So the whole design goal here is fidelity. Your words, where your cursor already is, in whatever application you are in, with no clipboard round trip and no ghost text appearing and then rewriting itself.
It runs on-device when what you are dictating should not leave the room. That is slower and slightly less accurate, and for medical or legal or personal notes it is obviously the right trade.
FAQ
Does it work in every app?
That is the target, because a dictation tool that only works in its own window is a transcription tool with extra steps. The hard cases are the ones that matter, and the browser-based editors are the hard cases.
How accurate is on-device compared with cloud?
Cloud models are better, and I am not going to claim otherwise. On-device is good enough for notes and email and it never sends your voice anywhere. Which one is correct depends on what you are saying.
Can it learn my jargon?
A custom vocabulary is the plan, because domain terms are exactly where general models fall over and where being wrong costs the most time to fix.
