Most volume boosters just make quiet audio into loud distortion
Free, up to 600 percent, and the audio is never recorded.
Boosting audio is a multiplication, and if you only multiply then anything already near full volume clips into distortion. That is why most boosters sound worse at 300 percent rather than louder, and it is a solved problem that almost none of them bother solving.
This runs a compressor before the gain stage, which pulls the peaks down before the signal gets amplified. The result is genuinely louder instead of merely more distorted, and on a quiet podcast the difference is obvious rather than subtle.
There is a five band equaliser as well, which matters more than it sounds. A lot of what makes speech hard to follow is boomy low end rather than lack of volume, and cutting it does more than turning everything up.
How to use it
- Play something in a tab.
- Click the icon and drag the gain up.
- If it sounds boomy rather than quiet, cut the low band instead of adding more gain.
- Turn on mono if the mix is lopsided or if you hear better in one ear.
- Watch the level meter. If it is pinned, you have gone past useful.
The mono switch is an accessibility feature
Mono sends both channels to both ears. It sounds like a small thing and for some people it is the difference between following a video and giving up on it.
Two cases where it matters. If you have hearing loss on one side, a stereo mix puts half the content somewhere you cannot hear it. And plenty of amateur recordings simply have the speaker on one channel, which is a mixing mistake you can fix on your end in one click.

FAQ
Will 600 percent damage my speakers or my hearing?
Your speakers are fine, they will distort before they break. Your hearing is a real consideration, especially on headphones, and the honest advice is that if you need 600 percent regularly then the source is broken and you should fix the source. Use the meter as a guide rather than the number.
Why does the audio stop if I reload the tab?
Reloading tears down the tab's audio, and the capture has to be re-established. This is by design, since holding a capture across a page change is how extensions end up muting tabs they no longer control.
Does it work on video calls?
It can capture the tab, but I would not. Boosting a call while a compressor is smoothing the peaks makes it harder for the other end to hear problems on your side, and most call software has its own gain control that will fight you.
Is the audio recorded anywhere?
No. It is processed and routed back to your speakers in real time and nothing is written to disk. There is no network code in the extension at all.
